Happy October 1 st to you today! LFM’s Dave McKechnie, who served for 25 years as Senior Pastor of a church in Houston that was one of the largest congregations in his denomination, shares today’s Sunday Extra message. A Canadian by birth, his father and Leighton Ford knew each other many years ago. Dave now lives in Charlotte and is a wonderful presence among so many LFM connections. Here he preaches on the nature of salt, reflecting on the reality that Jesus expects us to flavor this world.
A Special Gathering
Thirteen pastors and ministry leaders will gather this week at the Chetola Resort near Blowing Rock, North Carolina, for a mentoring experience together with some of our LFM staff. One of our passions is to make deep investments in the lives of kingdom leaders to help them be healthy and go on to serve thriving ministries. Please pray for Mark Slaughter, Anne Grizzle, Jim Singleton, Leighton Ford, and others – as well as the ministry leaders coming from all over North America.
As we pray, let’s remember Aaron’s blessing: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26 NIV).
Kent Tarbutton, the owner of Chetola in Blowing Rock, went home to be with the Lord on September 2, leaving behind a loving wife and children. Leighton Ford participated in his funeral. Kent graciously offered LFM discounted rates across the years for our various gatherings. Please pray for the Tarbutton family as they adjust to their loss – and for the people of Blowing Rock whose lives were impacted by Kent.
