The True Vine
Happy Mother’s Day! This week’s message comes from Ken Shigematsu at Tenth Church in Vancouver. He shares from John 15 about staying close to Jesus and reflecting Him to the world.
We hope you’ll be blessed by Ken’s message today. A thoughtful communicator, he serves on LFM’s Strategic Advisory Board and has been mentored by Leighton for over twenty-five years. Jim Singleton and Kevin Ford feature Ken in a chapter of their upcoming book, The Attentive Church, to be published by InterVarsity Press in 2023.
At Leighton Ford Ministries (LFM), we thank God for the godly women associated with this gospel work. In particular, Jean Ford has modeled staying close to Jesus while reflecting him to the world for many years. As the baton passes to the next generation, we are grateful that Caroline Ford also stays close to the true Vine.
How You Can Pray
Today, we pause to thank God for the women in our lives who influenced us positively for the Lord. Take a moment to reflect on family members, school and church teachers, coaches and others who shaped, shepherded, and cared for you through the years. Specifically, let’s pray for mothers we know- that God will care for them, encourage them with His presence, meet the current needs in their lives, and shower them with blessings.
May the words of this psalm ring true in their lives: “But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong . . . . They flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. They will declare, “The Lord is just. He is my rock!” (Psalm 92:13-15 NLT).
Also, please pray for our gathering with potential mentoring leaders this week at Chetola Resort in North Carolina.
