Rooted and Growing
John Yates III pastors an Anglican congregation in Raleigh, North Carolina. His father has been a long-time colleague of Leighton Ford’s. John III was one of the final assistants to John Stott in his ministry which was also deeply connected to Leighton. Kevin Ford has also led their staff in leadership development. It is a rich experience to see how God weaves together these friendships through the years.
He is currently taking them through a series called Rooted and Growing. Today, John helps us see a vital aspect of godliness as we seek to grow closer to Christ during this season of Lent.
Rooted in the Gospel
Today, let’s pray together for the ministry at the church where John Yates III pastors. They are currently in the midst of a capital campaign to build an addition to their existing building. John asks that as they raise money and plan to build that the Lord will help them to keep their priorities straight, remembering that buildings are tools for ministry and that their mission is to raise up disciples rooted in the Gospel and growing in grace. May we all remember that “Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good” (Psalm 127:1 NLT).
