Sunday Extra – March 31st, 2024
The Hope of Resurrection
Today, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. As the hymnwriter said, Lives again, our glorious King, Alleluia! Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
How thankful we are for the life, death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord. Because He died, we can live forever. This Easter season, the promise of resurrection holds a special significance to the LFM family. Jean Graham Ford passed away on February 29 of this year. A few weeks before she left her earthly family and friends, she reflected with her Kevin and Caroline: “I’ve lived a long life. I have no regrets. I’ve served my Savior well.” Her memorial service from March 8 was a testimony to her gracious life – and to the power of the Gospel.
On this Easter’s Sunday Extra, we share with you Jean’s service of celebration and hope. You will hear from several of her family members, including Leighton, who shared how he and Jean desired to live out the truth of Psalm 34:3, “Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together” (NKJV). May you be encouraged and uplifted by the hope of our resurrection!
Telling Our Story
“When you go to work as Christ’s ambassador, to whom will you speak? Atheists, agnostics, or people who practice other religions? Clients or coworkers indifferent or hostile toward God?” So write Bill Peel and Jerry White in their article, Talking to People About Jesus: Workplace Evangelism for the 99 Percent, appearing in this month’s Lausanne Highlights. They encourage believers to learn to tell stories that highlight the Lord in their circles of influence.
As we remember the life-changing message of the Gospel this Easter, let’s ask the Lord together to help us be faithful witnesses – and for Him to open doors for us to talk with other people about Jesus Christ.
Leighton Ford was named the Lifetime Honorary Chairperson of the Lausanne Movement.
