Sunday Extra – November 24th, 2024
Transformed by the Potter
We all naturally desire life’s road to be smooth and full of blessings. However, the Lord knows that many times our most significant growth comes through times of challenge. On Sunday Extra today, Rhett Wilson, Sr., of Lancaster, South Carolina, talks to us about how God uses brokenness to accomplish His purposes in our lives. Drawing from both Jeremiah and Paul, Rhett discusses three purposes of the Potter’s work: closeness, likeness, and usefulness. Rhett pastors bi-vocationally and also works as LFM’s Senior Communications Director.
A Childlike Faith
When encountering a child, Jesus said to His disciples, “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven” (Matt. 18:10 NIV). When we think of Christmas, we often think of children. As we prepare to move into the Advent season, let’s be aware of children around us and ask the Lord to rebuild in us a child-like faith in Him. The Lausanne Movement calls us to take children seriously as we endeavor to fulfill the Great Commission. In her article, State of the Great Commission Report: Where are the Children?, Susan Greener reminds us, “If we really want to hear from the young and involve them, it is time to employ practical steps toward that reality. The young are not merely the church’s future; they are the church now.” Click here to see Susan’s article.
Please pray for Kevin Ford as he leads a visioning retreat for a church in McKinney, Texas. Let’s also pray for Leighton Ford as he has a surgical procedure on November 26. This is a follow up to his surgery for bladder cancer last May. And remember to pray for LFM’s Dave McKechnie as he continues recovering from back surgery.
