Pointing to Christ
Clint Tolbert is one of LFM’s friends on the journey in many ways. He leads a congregation in Maumee, Ohio, which has experienced three visioning processes with our team over the course of a decade. These helped the church grow and deepen, becoming a revitalized congregation. Clint also is in an LFM mentoring group and now leads one of his own. One of LFM’s core values is “exponential” as LFM sees mentees become mentors to others. We are grateful for the partnership with Clint and his congregation. He shares with us today how the ministry of Elijah points us to Jesus Christ.
Prayer that Births Revival
The prophet Habakkuk prayed, “LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, LORD. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy” (Habakkuk 3:2 NIV).
As believers, we read about the awesome works of God in the Bible, and we hear how He has moved in specific times in history. These testimonies challenge us to pray that He will pour Himself out afresh today – in our time.
In the November e-newsletter of the Lausanne Movement, Sarah Plummer writes about the prayer that births revival. She says, “Historic revivals have often been characterized by fervent prayer, the faithful preaching of God’s word, the personal conversions of many and a spiritual awakening among God’s people to live as transformed communities. Prayer that births revival, then, is not our prayer but God’s prayer for us and with us—a prayer that God invites us to join.”
