Sunday Extra – June 2nd, 2024
Burning Hearts
Today it’s our pleasure to hear Jim Singleton bring our Sunday Extra message. With a heart for discipleship and mentoring, Jim works with many pastors and churches for LFM. He lives in Spokane, Washington, with his wife Sara and grandson Hunter. Shared with a congregation shortly after Easter this year, Jim explores how the disciples were changed on the road to Emmaus. Jesus encountered them, transforming their lives and resulting in their hearts burning.
Knit Together
Pray with us today as Courtney Vendetta McLaughlin, one of LFM’s mentors, preaches at a church in California. Also, Kevin Ford will be leading a visioning retreat this week for a church in Thomasville, Georgia. May God work through them so others will be “encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself” (Colossians 2:2 NLT).
Also, Kevin Ford writes, “My Dad had surgery for bladder cancer on Friday. The doctor removed six small tumors. The pathology report will determine next steps. We arrived at the hospital at 10 am, but due to an emergency surgery Dad’s was pushed back till 4 pm. The doctor felt like he would be better off at home last night, so my brother-in-law (Craig Gourley) drove him home around 9:30 pm. He will go back in two weeks for an in-person follow up to review the pathology report and determine next steps. Most likely, chemo or radiation will be a course of action. The family is grateful for your friendship and prayers. Friday, as we were waiting, Dad was weepy as he thought of how blessed he has been to have so many friends who have expressed love and prayers. We will keep you posted.”
Thank you for your continued prayers for Leighton, a friend on the journey.
