Waiting Expectantly
Jenny Warner pastors a church in Portola Valley, California and is a frequent contributor to Sunday Extra. Jenny and LFM have partnered for years through visioning and coaching. More recently, she participated in our mentor training for our Mentoring American Pastors initiative. Today she shares, “Always Winter and Never Christmas”, an idea taken from C.S. Lewis’ classic children’s book, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and her teaching is rooted in Matthew 24: 36-44. Her words help us see how certain spiritual practices can sustain us as we wait expectantly during Advent.
Anticipation and Faith
Join us in praying for Valley Church this week as they celebrate the Advent season. Ask the Lord to work within them the same spirit of anticipation and faith expressed by King David, who wrote, Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, for to You I pray. In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will prepare [a prayer and a sacrifice] for You and watch and wait [for You to speak to my heart] (Psalm 5:3 AMP).
