Is Anybody Standing With Me?
Who’s got your back in moments of uncertainty? Who are you standing beside with unwavering presence?
The Bible never records his name — he exists in the text only in relation to another. In 1 Samuel 14, the Scripture shares an account of prince Jonathan and his unnamed armor bearer. When the Israelites found themselves with the odds stacked against them, and King Saul froze, immobile with fear, Jonathan decided to trust God and take action against the Philistines.
Today, LFM Senior Leadership Coach Pete Della Santina takes us into this passage to witness the incredible response of the armor bearer to the daring plan: “Do all that you have in mind . . . I am with you heart and soul” (1 Samuel 14:7 NIV). In his willingness to pledge loyalty to Jonathan, he did not need a title or guarantee. Instead, he promised unwavering support, standing with him in the midst of chaos. Some callings are not to the front of the room but to the side of a leader, pledging wholehearted presence at a costly moment.
PAUSE AND PRAY
Who in your circle is stepping into something risky and audacious for the Kingdom and needs someone standing beside them saying, without reservation, “I am with you heart and soul?” What would that kind of support cost you — and what might it make possible?
