What Am I Doing Here?
Despair and discouragement can lay hold of us at the most unexpected times. One day we can experience the mountaintop, yet an unforeseen difficulty the following day can throw us into a tailspin. In those times, it’s easy to lose our focus on God and instead give in to fear and dismay, wondering: what am I doing here?
Evangelist Wesley Paul, LFM’s Senior Global Mentor and Trainer, takes us to 1 Kings 19 in this week’s LiveCalled Today. In this passage, the prophet Elijah, whom God used mightily just one chapter earlier, faces a threat on his life. Immediately his faith faltered, and he ran for his life. God met the prophet through quiet, ordinary means. And God patiently and tenderly brought His servant back to a right focus on what is true.
PAUSE AND PRAY
Are you running on empty right now? Before you push forward, allow yourself necessary blessings — rest, nourishment, and honest conversation with a trusted companion. Your re-commissioning awaits you on the other side of recovery. Who is God sending to sit with you at the broom tree?
