Our Sunday Extra preacher today is the late Dr. John Huffman, who passed away in September 2025 in Newport Beach, California. This sermon—originally preached in 2023 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, where John faithfully served as pastor for over three decades—offers timeless wisdom on discerning the will of God.
John and his wife Anne were longtime friends and supporters of Leighton and LFM. Anne served for many years on our board of directors, and John collaborated with Leighton on several boards, including Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and World Vision. He was also a close friend of Jim Singleton, playing a key role—alongside Leighton—in Jim’s call to Gordon-Conwell in 2012.
We share this message in gratitude for John’s legacy of faithful leadership, friendship, and biblical teaching. His words remain just as relevant today as when they were first preached.

Since 1986, LFM has mentored hundreds of pastors and ministry leaders in the United States and around the world, primarily through one-to-one mentoring and mentoring groups, many of whom have launched second- and third-generation groups. We provide safe times, safe places, and safe people for ministry leaders.
This week, LFM will host a gathering in Charlotte, North Carolina, celebrating the ongoing impact of Billy Graham, Leighton Ford, and the next generation of ministry leaders. We will discuss our new initiative called Jeanie’s Vision. The goal of Jeanie’s Vision is to identify and mentor the next generation of evangelists, near and far.
