Sunday Extra – November 10th, 2024
The Gospel of Hospitality
Today, enjoy listening to Dr. Wesley Paul on this edition of Sunday Extra. Wesley, a native of India, shares the Gospel around the world as an evangelist. With deep ties to LFM, he was mentored by Lon Allison in the Star Mentoring Group. Through Wesley Paul International Ministries, he shares God’s Word to large crowds. In 2019, he started the Arrow Tribe Mentoring Community, including emerging leaders from India, Nigeria, Kenya, Pakistan, Australia, and North America.
In this message from 2022, Wesley speaks at Wheaton College in Illinois. He enthusiastically asks the hearers, “Is there anybody in the house that loves my Jesus?” Then he shares how the agape love of God is the driving force behind biblical hospitality. Jesus modeled this kind of love in his interaction with the Samaritan woman in John 4, as Wesley reminds us to love strangers.
Celebrating Achievement in Spiritual Formation
Today, we want to offer our congratulations to a dear friend of LFM. MaryKate Morse, who has been extremely influential in the development of LFM’s whole-life mentoring model, was recently awarded the prestigious Richard J. Foster Award in Spiritual Formation by George Fox University. MaryKate, author of Lifelong Leadership, has served George Fox and Portland Seminary for over 30 years. She is currently the Lead Mentor for the Doctor of Ministry in Leadership and Spiritual Formation. Click here to see more about MaryKate’s award.
Just this past week, MaryKate and Jim Singleton led a mentoring gathering in the Pacific Northwest for a group of ministry leaders. We’ll share more about that next week. We’re thankful for people like MaryKate, and for the opportunity for LFM to link arms with her and hundreds of other Kingdom leaders around the world. Together, we seek to be a catalyst for mentoring healthy leaders who sustain thriving ministries for the sake of the Gospel. Let’s pray today for MaryKate and others like her, that the Lord will enable us to help others be “encouraged in heart and united in love . . . that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ” (Colossians 2:2-3 NIV).
Please also pray for LFM board members Jim Osterhaus and Dave McKechnie as they both continue to recover from surgery.
