Is Success Defined By Outcome?

Ezekiel's Calling

Have you ever needed to initiate a difficult conversation, but you dreaded it because you knew they probably would not receive it well?

On LiveCalled Today, LFM’s Senior Leadership Coach Jack Peebles looks at an Old Testament priest turned prophet who lived that reality. In Ezekiel 2:1-7, God called His servant to be His spokesperson to “a rebellious nation,” described as “obstinate and stubborn” (Ezekiel 2:3-4 NIV). From the onset, God warned Ezekiel that the Israelites would likely resist him. But at the same time, He exhorted the prophet to not give in to fear and to “speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen” (7).

PAUSE AND PRAY

It’s easy to judge success based on outcomes that are easily measured. We may be tempted to look primarily at spreadsheets or bottom lines when making judgments. Yet the Bible consistently shows faithfulness and perseverance, regardless of the immediate outcome, as the sign of success in God’s eyes. Let’s remember that truth today when God calls us to be keep His covenant and steward His Gospel.
