Where is silence?

“Silence is an endangered species … it is on the verge of extinction.”
So says Gordon Hempton, an “acoustic ecologist” who has spent much of his life looking and listening for places in the world that are silent.
He has a list of them in the United States – only twelve!
Where do you find silence?
As Elijah heard “the sound of silence” on the top of the mountain?
Where does the “noise” all around quiet down enough to listen – to nature? To your own heart? To God?
In church?
Where will I listen – and hear – today?
