What am I missing

Last weekend the Washington Post convinced Joshua Bell, one of the world’s great violinists, to play unannounced in a Washington subway station, to see how people would react if they did not know who he was. Bell played for an hour on his $3.5 million Stradivarius. People will pay hundreds of dollars to attend his concerts. But over the hour, while 1100 plus people passed by, hardly any stopped, except a few children whose parents then pulled them on. One woman who didn’t recognize him put twenty dollars in his case! Altogether a little over thirty two dollars was dropped in for one of the world’s great musicians.

Imagine: rushing to work, and what they missed!

Then I remembered that at the beginning of Lent our pastor suggested using a prayer he has on his desk:

Lord, show me what I am missing?

I wonder what you and I may be missing of God’s music today.
