Matt Woodley – God Calls People Like You
God Calls People Like You
How is God calling you in this season of your life? Matt Woodley, an interim dean of a church in
Wheaton, Illinois, asks that question in today’s Sunday Extra. Looking at Exodus 3:1-14, this
message starts a series called “Vocation: How God Works through Ordinary People.” Matt leads
the LFM Mentoring Group called The Deanery, a group of young church planters in the
Chicagoland area. A pastor for many years, Matt also spent ten years as the editor of
PreachingToday.com at Christianity Today. He and his wife Heather have a heart to mentor
pastors of small to mid-sized churches.
“Strong Ties of Love”
This week, Matt Woodley asks us to pray: “I will be Finishing my role as the interim dean of this
church in Wheaton. Please pray for strength to finish well and for discernment for the next
season of my life.”
Also, two weeks ago, the Grace Network LFM Mentoring Group gathered for their annual retreat
in Boone, North Carolina. The nine participants include four staff members from a church in
Kinston, NC, as well as five church planters. They spent three days listening to and praying for
each other, strengthening leaders to help them go home and lead thriving ministries. Pastors and
ministry leaders often carry heavy burdens. Our mentoring groups provide safe times, safe
places, and safe people for these leaders to be lifted up. Let’s pray for the members of the Grace
Network group to be “be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to
have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself”
(Colossians 2:2 NLT).

And finally, LFM wishes a very happy birthday to our Chief Catalyst and Leighton Ford’s youngest son, Kevin Ford!
