Eye In The Sky
Eye in the Sky
Yesterday I went with my friend Neal to see Eye in the Sky – a gripping drama about drone warfare. The drama is about whether to hit a house where terrorists are preparing a mass suicide attack in Kenya. And at the last moment a little girl sets up a stand to sell her mother’s bread right at the edge of the house.
We are in a world where we kill by remote control from continents away, by the numbers and the % of collateral damage.
It’s intense. Take someone with you if you go.
Made me think of a stanza of Wendell Berry’s poem
Questionaire.
#5. State briefly the ideas, ideals, or hopes
the energy sources, the kinds of security,
for which you would kill a child.
Name, please the children whom
you would be willing to kill.
