Sunday Extra – October 13th, 2024
Peacemaking
Corey Widmer, a long-time friend of Leighton Ford Ministries, shares God’s Word with us today on Sunday Extra. He pastors in Richmond, Virginia, and he and his church have partnered with LFM through the years for leadership development and governance help. During a series on the Beatitudes, today he tackles the issue of peacemaking. As he talks about not just avoiding conflict or “keeping the peace,” he offers a biblical approach for making peace. Using an image of a puzzle, Corey illustrates how the Beatitudes help us make sense of life.
A Place of Stability
Hurricane Helene recently left much devastation in her path. We want to make you aware of one ministry opportunity in response to the storm. The Boys Home of Virginia is offering twenty-six full scholarships for young men (ages 6-17) displaced by Hurricane Helene.
LFM Board member Anne Grizzle serves as chaplain for the home. She explains, “While we can’t help every family affected by this disaster, Boys Home is committed to offering a safe and stable environment for as many young men as possible who were impacted by the storm. We are here to provide a place of warmth, stability, and support during this stressful and uncertain time. We’re here to help continue your son’s education while surrounding him with a community that cares. To make this easier, we’ve expedited our admissions process to quickly serve those who need us.”
Boys Home’s campus is only two hours from Pulaski County, Virginia, four hours from Boone, North Carolina, and four hours from Carter County, Tennessee. The home will also assist with transportation if needed. If you know someone who could benefit from this ministry, reach out to Brittany Tate at btate@boyshomeofva.org.
Let’s pray for the Boys Home of Virginia as they serve others during this time, and pray for the Lord to make the right connections for the twenty-six spots.
