Sunday Extra – September 22nd, 2024
Hiding in a Cave
Dr. Nicole Martin is our Sunday Extra preacher today. Nicole was on an LFM mentor training retreat in 2019. She has been a friend of LFM for many years and used to be a pastor in Charlotte with Dr. Claude Alexander, a member of our Strategic Advisory Board. Nicole has been a professor at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and now works with Christianity Today. She is an author and a significant leader in the larger church. In this sermon, she preaches Psalm 57, where David hides in a cave from Saul.
Praying for Lausanne
This week marks a significant event in the worldwide Body of Christ. Today through Saturday, thousands of delegates from around the globe gather in South Korea for the Fourth Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization. With a rich history spanning decades, including influencers like Billy Graham, Leighton Ford, and John Stott, Lausanne was established to act as a catalyst for evangelistic strategies and programs on a continuing basis.
Leighton eventually served as their Chair and was later named lifetime Honorary Chair. Lausanne’s passion is that evangelization requires the whole church to take the whole Gospel to the whole world. This week, LFM’s own Anne Grizzle, Alison Druckemiller, and Nick Valadez are all participating in the gathering. Let’s pray for the Lausanne Congress, that the Lord will fill them with “the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way” (Colossians 1:9-10 NIV). You can follow the Congress here.
