Sunday Extra – May 11th, 2025

Grace-Filled Generosity

LFM’s friend Clint Tolbert shares the message on today’s Sunday Extra. The church he pastors in Maumee, Ohio, has taken the Transforming Church Insight (TCI), three times. The TCI, a congregational survey, assesses a congregation on five primary dimensions, compared to our national database. Their first survey rated the church at the 47th percentile compared to the national norm. After each survey, LFM led the church through a visioning process. The most recent survey ranked the church at the 98th percentile! The city of Maumee recently gave the church an award for being the most essential organization in town. Clint participates in an LFM peer mentoring group and also leads a group of Ohio pastors in one of LFM’s Transforming Church Cohorts.

In the Grace-filled Generosity series, this message focuses on Jesus’ teaching from Matthew 6:9–14, where He challenges the grip money can have on our hearts. Rather than storing up earthly treasure, Jesus calls us to give in a way that intentionally reorients our hearts toward trusting and following Him. Generosity becomes not just an act of giving—but a spiritual practice that shapes our hearts for the kingdom.

Open Doors to Jesus

Today, let’s pray for Pastor Clint and the church he pastors in Ohio. Clint shares, “We have recently launched a 1.5 million capital campaign.  The campaign supports a vision to ‘Open Doors to Jesus through worship, community, and family.’ This includes launching a new church in Toledo.  This church will seek to bring the gospel to young people aging out of the foster care system.  We already have a significant ministry to meet the practical needs of these young people, but what they need most is family. Please pray for God’s provision and direction through this campaign.”

And let’s also pray for the newly-elected Pope of the Catholic Church, Robert Francis Prevost, who will be known as Pope Leo XIV. May the Lord fill him “with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that [he] may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him” (Colossians 1:9-10 NIV).
